The Benefits of Kraft Packaging

The Benefits of Kraft Packaging

Kraft Jewelry Boxes in a Pile

Kraft boxes and paper have skyrocketed in popularity the past few years. Why is everyone making the switch to kraft products? Simply put, kraft products are eco-friendly, cost-effective and stylish.

The process of making kraft paper was invented by Carl F. Dahl in 1879 in Prussia, Germany. The word kraft derives from the German word for strength because of the paper’s superior strength.

Kraft paper is made by pulverizing and blending wood pulp material into large rolls of brown filament. These filaments are not color treated which explains the natural brown color. Minimal chemical processing also means it is 100% biodegradable.

Its strength and eco-friendly qualities make it ideal for packaging. Grocery stores have been using kraft paper bags for decades for this very reason. Most recently large ecommerce companies have started using the material for boxes and envelopes. Unlike the plastic counterpart that can take hundreds of years to decompose, kraft products can start decomposing in two to six weeks. It can also be recycled making it a favorite material among environmentally conscious consumers.

Not only is it great for the environment, kraft paper is a fantastic choice for wrapping paper or gift boxes.  The simple and natural packaging gives it a rustic look without being plain and boring. At JPI Display we offer several kraft products like kraft jewelry boxes and kraft gift bags. Jewelry boxes come in various sizes for rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches and more.
